Carbonite Black Memory Recalls

I am having trouble with our Carbonite Black 2ME. We started using memory recalls for some different looks but recalling has been inconsistent. Essentially the memory will be recalled but sometimes the MEs appears to hold on a last frame of the transition (transition LEDs fully lit and keys not completely transitioning on/off). Like I said inconsistent, both ME 1&2 experience this at different times.

I updated software and firmware early in the week to attempt a fix but nada. (FYI the latest updates did not go well. I lost user defined key setups and proc/color correction settings).

    Thoughts anyone?

    I would

1 -- do a Calibration of the Fader handles to make sure that the End stops are properly set.
Menu - System - Diagnostics - Calibration.  When in the mode move the faders to the endstops gently a couple of times.  Also move the Joystick around a bit. Then make sure to save it to exit the mode.

2 -- Recall the memories and if it is "off" the end move the fader now so that the result is correct and then re-store the memory again....  Don't forget to Save the File set otherwise if someone re loads the file set the old memories are going to be loaded back in.

I think a lot more information is needed regarding the upgrade issues...  Like what version were you ON and what Version did you upgrade too.

One thing that would make sense is that the User buttons needing to be re-done.  In version 15 All of the buttons on the Row were made into user buttons...  Thus User Button 1:1 is no longer the first button after the Key types.. but instead is the first key type button.  However now you can assign them in DashBoard via the personality menu... same with the Bus Map.

    Thanks Les!
I completed a calibration.  Problem still occurs on the recalls however I was able to replicate the problem and can put some better descriptions into what is happening.
I stored memories both pre the upgrade and post.  I found out how to replicate the problem.  It relates to 2
memories being recalled simultaneously on different MEs with EFF DISS enabled.  I'll recall a memory on ME2 using EFF DISS then shortly after recall a memory on ME1 using EFF DISS while the transition on ME2 is still completing (and vise versa).  Whatever memory I recall first an ME in EFF DISS will stop at 99% when I recall a memory on another ME while the first memory recall is running.

    Does that make sense?

Eventually I'd like to get the memory recall into custom controls but I want the flexibility to recall two memories at once (I'm using ME1 and ME2 essentially for two different outputs).

Thank you for the detailed description.  I will have our people look into it...

Now you are sure that those are "independent" recalls?  and you are not recalling on "both" MEs when you trigger the second recall?

Would you be able to save your Setup File and put it in dropbox or something for us to grab it?  Then also give us the exact memories to be triggering to recreate the same issue?  thanks..

    Thanks Les!

I'm confident that the memories aren't recalling both MEs. I'll recall memories separately and not simultaneously and there is no issues.

    Uploading Dropbox file here:

On ME1 & ME2, memories are stored to Bank 1. Memories include 10, 11, 12, 13, and 17. Memories 10-12 will have keyers on, memory 17 will not.  I have the most trouble when recalling ME 1 & 2 memories simultaneously when keyers are switching state. Example would be to recall memory 10 simultaneously then memory 17 simultaneously.

    Hope this helps!

They have recreated the issue and we will look into it....

Note that the file you shared is a "frame file" in dashboard.  That is not the switcher show files... Those save to the USB of the CArbonite and you have to pull the folder off using FTP from the frame or use the new feature in v15 where you can save the file set to the dashboard computer...
