  • 1.  Setting a pause at the beginning of a scene that is already online

I have a layer that is a video that I need to be online, but at a pause first. Then I need it to trigger that, maybe a keystroke/spacebar, to then animate and the other elements animate on also.
    Help!!!??
    Thanks

Add a pause to the first or second frame of the scene director.  Instead of setting the video to be "autostart and freerunning", just drag the video material onto a track on the scene director, and that will cause the video to respect the "pause" on the scene director.
When you play the scene through the sequencer it should immediately go into the "paused" state with the video frozen.  Taking the item again will start everything playing.

To further what Brian said.  If your scene has a pause on the beginning.  Then you have quads on your scene that have videos that need to start, you can place scripts in that same scene director to send a play command.  Dim you baseobject.  Get that object/quad by name.  Then you need to do get get material, then you can send a play command to that material. - like Brian said, make sure your video material does not have auto start selected.

    dim QUAD as xpBaseObject
    dim MAT as xpMaterial

    scene.getObjectByName("QUAD NAME", QUAD)

    QUAD.GetMaterial(0, MAT)

    MAT.Play

That is just generic wording there.  The script that I had and used this for I had 4 headshots online at once, and I wanted them to come online paused, then the scene director would send a play command to the first video and pause the rest.  Then as it advances video 2 gets a play command, and so on down the line.
