    Hi!

Has anyone had any luck using the captioning Datalinq source with an iCap HD492 from EEG?

The HD492 looks like it sends out RS232 data, but it doesn't appear to be as straightforward as I had hoped. Any help would be much appreciated!

I've got an HD492, I'll take a look. We use the text server option which is a TCP connection for captions. I've never tried the serial connection, but will see what I can get!

Edit: No luck on either port, but I put in a ticket with EEG to see what those ports can do. The manual is a little thin on answers on that front.

Edit 2: Response from EEG, looks like they may not output captions?
"The RS232ports are used as General-Purpose serial ports for receiving data to be embedded into the video output. Serial port 1 can be enabled for SMPTE 333 protocol."

    Hi Chris!

Thanks so much for jumping on this. After reexamining the vague manual... that is kind of what I am gathering as well by how the RS-232 ports are presented under "Other Live Captioning Methods - Teleprompter and Other Devices". It kind of seems like it is indicating that these are used for receiving caption data from a teleprompter.

Do you happen to know off hand what the Text Server Module ran you?

    Thanks again!

It was around $1500 if memory serves correctly, but it works perfectly with Xpression.
