New Line Tag in Text Datalinq Sources?

    Hey Graphics Integrators,

Just curious if I'm misinterpreting the use for the "New Line Tag" in Text Datalinq sources. I'm trying to use this to insert line breaks (simple carriage returns) into CSVs so that I can pass multi-line text objects through a CSV pipeline that we've developed for our graphics. I have tried all of the options and none of them seem to work in Datalinq (ones using {} will turn invisible like font tags or material flags but will not add in a line break).

    Thanks!!
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

To me, this looks like there is a bug in the newline parsing.  From what I can see it is only working when a row in the text file does not contain any comma delimiters.
This should be solving we could fix quite quickly.  Which specific version of datalinq are you running?

Hey Brian, thanks for the quick response! We're on XP9.5v5008.  The linebreak appears to work fine when its on its own line but our goal with this is to quickly insert linebreaks into large CSV pulls from a stats API that resembles a spreadsheet, not a line-by-line output. Is there any hope to add in-line line-breaks into our text globally? (We can always do a script but I've got a few thousand text objects that would potentially need it and I'm looking for a more global solution). Any chance this is handled differently in XP10?

    Hi Nick,

Contact Tech Support and ask for version 10.0 Build 5276.  This should have a fix for the newline issue in it.
We don't normally recommend this, but in this case you could probably even run the new datalinq version with your existing 9.5 studio build if for some reason you cant upgrade XPression itself to 10.0.
