  • 1.  Unable to export a scene that has an animated line object in it

    Posted 08-28-2022 06:57
I've been creating an animation in XPression using the Lines object to show some course information.

But when I finished the animation and I wanted to export it, I got an "EAccessViolation"-error, followed by a crash of the XPression.

I've tried multiple different approaches; trying to export in another format, trying to export as an image, trying to export it on another machine, installing other versions, etc... but nothing helps.
Everytime I try to render the animation, I get the same exception.

I did notice the issue occurs only when I'm animating using the Lines.Percentage value. If this value is not animated, the export works, but as soon as you try to animate it (either directly, or through a linked value in Visual Logic), the application crashes.

Anybody else experience this issue before? And perhaps found a solution for it?

    Hi Kenneth.
I recreate your scene and everything works for me without errors v10.0 builb 5276. Alternatively, you can use a mask instead of Lines.Percentage.
That is, animate a Quad that has an Alpha Mask material applied to it.

    Thanks for your reply Roman,
But did you animate the Lines.Percentage?
And did you then try to export the scene as a video?

Because I have tried this on two different pc's on two different versions and both versions showed me the same error...

Unfortunately, using a mask is not an option since there are crossing lines.

You can put the lines in separate layer groups with their own masks and they won't mask each other then.

I guess that could be an option, but then I have to do the work twice; first create the lines and then create the masks...

It would be easier if the bug wasn't there ;p

I don't have an issue exporting a video of an animated line using percentage in v10.5 build 5518.
